APPLY NOW

We want to make room for you in our community.

The homes we build are made possible through generous private donations, partnerships with local employers, and support from local government.

Our housing program uses a ranked, point-based system to offer housing to applicants who meet specific eligibility criteria and rank highest when a housing opportunity becomes available.

  • Submit your application using the apply button below.

Once we process your application you will receive an email confirmation that you are an active applicant. Once you are in our system, you do not need to apply again. If your employment, household, or income changes at any point, simply email us at housing@housingtrustjh.org and we will update your file.

Once a rental home is available, we will notify the active database. Once all interested applicants express interest by the set deadline, we offer the opportunity to the highest ranked applicant.

  • EMPLOYMENT:
All applicants must be employed full-time at a local Teton County business—at least 30 hours per week, year-round. This requirement ensures our homes serve people who actively contribute to and depend on the local economy. To qualify, all three of these must be true:

    1. Your job must require you to be present in Teton County. Remote work—where your physical presence in the county isn't required—doesn't meet this requirement.

    2. You must work at least 30 hours per week, every week of the year. Seasonal employment alone doesn't qualify.

Are you self-employed or a business owner? You may still be eligible if your business is physically based in and serves Teton County, WY.

    INCOME:
Income includes wages, salaries, and other earnings for all working adults who will live in the home. When in doubt, count everyone's income.

    • What is the income limit? A household’s income cannot exceed 120% of the median income for Teton County, WY. To qualify for a CHT home, your household's total annual income must be at or below our income limit. Click here to see where you fall.

    ASSETS:
Add up the approximate market value of your assets. If the total is under $356,400, you likely meet this requirement.

    • Assets are things of financial value you own beyond your regular income. Common examples include:

      • Savings and checking accounts

      • Stocks, bonds, or mutual funds

      • Retirement accounts (e.g., 401k, IRA)

      • Real estate or property you own

      • Inheritance or trust funds

  • Our housing program is a ranked, point-based system that offers housing to applicants who meet specific eligibility criteria and are the highest ranked in the system when a housing opportunity is available. Points are awarded for:

    • Length of residency in Teton County

    • Time in the applicant pool

    • Employment in Teton County, with additional points for essential service positions (educators, emergency responders, healthcare providers, etc.)

    • Community involvement (volunteering): Applicants can earn up to 5 points total for volunteer hours with approved nonprofits. A maximum of 200 hours per person may be credited per application. Volunteer hours must verified by a supervisor, be unpaid and not required for employment. Hours are averaged between co-applicants.

  • We currently have 28 rental units at our Redmond Street Rentals community. We will contact all applicants on our database when a unit becomes available.

  • What items are needed to verify my eligibility?

    • The Community Housing Trust will verify applicants’ eligibility prior to offering a lease or sales agreement. We will ask for the following:

      • Proof of identification: Government issued driver’s license or passport.

      • A current credit report from Equifax, Experian or TransUnion.

      • Local rental references. At a minimum, one reference.

      • Signed and executed affidavit from current employer(s) verifying full time (30 hours per week) employment and wages received.

      • Most recent U.S. tax return.

      • A notarized financial statement detailing assets and liabilities.

      • Criminal affidavit.

What essential careers receive bonus points:

    • Emergency and medical personnel (Fire/EMS, Police, Dispatch; MDs, nurses, PAs, PTs)

    • Educators: Teachers, Principals, Assistant Principals, Guidance Counselors, and Therapists

    • Non-profit Programmatic or Leadership Employees

    • Public Sector Programmatic or Leadership Employees

    • Public Infrastructure/Critical Service Providers

What is a household—and why does size matter?

    • Your household includes everyone who will live in the home with you—a spouse or partner, children, a parent, or a roommate.

Household size matters for two reasons:

      1) Income limits are based on household size. Larger households can earn more and still qualify because it costs more to support more people.

      2) Home size must match household size. For example, a 1-bedroom home is appropriate for 1–2 people, while a 3-bedroom home requires at least 2 people.

The Community Housing Trust’s housing program has both rental and homeownership opportunities.
