Demise of bill keeps housing options alive

Teton County affordable housing dodged a bullet Tuesday when a bill that would have prohibited municipalities from setting housing mitigation rates died in the Joint Corporations Committee by a 2-3 vote.

Currently municipalities are authorized to enact such measures, requiring developers to provide a certain amount of deed-restricted housing depending on the size and impact of their development, as well as exaction fees, which give developers the option to pay a fee in lieu of building required housing.
